In the auction’s second section, Profiles in History is going back-”Back to the Future” with the Michael J. Fox Foundation’s Team Fox and Bob Gale to raise money for Parkinson’s research.  Mr. Gale has donated many items from his personal Back to the Future collection and his sales proceeds will go to Team Fox.  Other collectors have consigned their Back to the Future items, designating a percentage of their sales directly to Team Fox.  Highlighting this group is The most technically accurate reproduction of the iconic DeLorean Time Machine from Back to the Future ever built ($80,000-$100,000) and The Bob Gale Experience, in which Bob Gale will dine with the lucky winning bidder and a guest in Los Angeles, while helping to support The Michael J. Fox Foundation in their fight against Parkinson’s Disease. The winner and a guest can have lunch with Bob Gale in Los Angeles, subject to his schedule, OR a 1 hour-long phone call if travel to L.A. isn’t possible.  Lunch will be paid for by the Profiles in History team and the television show, Hollywood Treasure, on Syfy.  The winner will also receive a Back to the Future poster, personally autographed by Mr. Gale. Joe Maddalena and his company, Profiles in History are the stars of Hollywood Treasure, a new television show premiering October 27on Syfy.

Profiles in History’s next general Hollywood auction is scheduled for early December, 2010. A few items have been announced, including Brandon Routh’s hero Superman costume from Superman Returns; a ¼ scale special effects Batmobile from Batman Returns; a large collection of stop-motion hero principal character puppets from Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride; a hero Golden Ticket from Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and a hero T-600 Terminator puppet from Terminator Salvation.

Will Arnett plays a less than charming, spoiled, immature rich man who lives off his oil-rich daddy. Meanwhile his old teen crush, her mother worked at their estate, has lived in the Amazon for years with her daughter, Puddle. Puddle is finally out of the jungle and wants to stay in the states. Arnett makes up his own humanitarian award presentation to get her to come back to the states. To show her he is a humanitarian, he flight overnight (sure he does) to find the tribe she has been trying to help preserve their ancient culture. Then he brings them to his mansion and proudly shows her his surprise the next day. The tribe is in his pool. For those who like brain dead comedy with good-hearted spirit and a dash of romance, this is it. The show gets 5 tribal spears, for trying real hard.

Spartacus Star Andy Whitfield’s Cancer Returns

Andy Whitfield, star of Starz’s “Spartacus: Blood and Sand,” has been advised by his doctors to immediately resume aggressive treatment for a recurrence of cancer, as a result of which he will not be returning for the series’ second season, which was tentatively set to air in September 2011.

“It’s with a deep sense of disappointment that I must step aside from such an exceptional project as Spartacus and all the wonderful people involved. It seems that it is time for myself and my family to embark on another extraordinary journey. Thank you sincerely for the support so far,” said Whitfield.

“Our hearts and prayers are with Andy and his family during this difficult time,” said Starz President and CEO Chris Albrecht. “Andy is not only an incredible actor whose portrayal of Spartacus made an indelible impression on Starz audiences, he is also an amazing human being whose courage, strength, and grace in the face of adversity have inspired all of us.”

No decisions have yet been made about the future of the series. “Right now, we just want to extend our concern and support to Andy and his family,” said Carmi Zlotnik, Managing Director, Starz Media. “We will address our programming plans at some later date.”

Starz still plans to air the prequel to “Spartacus: Blood and Sand” in January 2011. Entitled “Spartacus: Gods of the Arena,” it focuses on the House of Batiatus before Spartacus arrives in Capua and stars returning cast members John Hannah, Lucy Lawless, Peter Mensah and Manu Bennett, along with newcomer Dustin Clare.

Premiere Props announced today they will be hosting their LIVE September Auction Extravaganza, featuring over 500 movie props and costumes from Hollywood’s iconic action films, used by today’s hottest stars.

In honor of the movie opening that same weekend, hundreds of costumes and props used in the making of the hotly anticipated 3D chapter of Screen Gems’ Resident Evil: Afterlife, including knives, bombs and Alice’s katana swords, along with her hero wardrobe, are available for fans to bid on and call their own. From the 10-foot bloody free standing pods to Alice’s iconic hero red and white umbrella pin, all will be available.  The fourth installment of the hugely successful RESIDENT EVIL franchise, RESIDENT EVIL: AFTERLIFE is again based on the wildly popular video game series, and will this time be presented in 3-D.

“Deadliest Warrior” For A Third Season

Navy SEAL Richard “Mack” Machowicz Joins The Cast

Los Angeles, CA, August 16, 2010 – History’s most lethal combatants will continue the fight for ultimate supremacy as Spike TVrenews “Deadliest Warrior,” the network’s first original franchise hit, for a third season, it was announced today by Sharon Levy, executive vice president, original programming, Spike TV.  The series has averaged 1.6 million viewers over it first two seasons, the most recent airing from April-July.  The season 2 finale on July 27 was the #2 ranked show on cable in its timeslot.  The third season of “Deadliest Warrior” will premiere 10 episodes in Summer 2011.

Mack, a Navy SEAL and former host and producer of “Future Weapons” and “Weapons That Changed The World,” joins the cast for the new season. Mack brings a warrior’s perspective to this series, as well as a weapons and battle tactician’s expertise.  Mack will provide viewers a richer understanding of the men behind the weapons and provide insight into the specific military strategies of all the featured warriors.  His expertise with soldier craft and military hardware comes from his experience as a 10-year veteran of the U.S. Navy SEALs.  During his service tenure, he participated in numerous tactical operations with SEAL Team ONE and TWO.  While at SEAL Team TWO, he was attached to the training cadre as the Leading Petty Officer of Land, Mountain and Arctic Warfare.  He also has over 30 years experience in the martial arts, studying such systems as muay thai boxing, Jeet Kune Do, kickboxing, aikido, jujitsu, savate, arnis and karate.

Mack joins series regulars Geoff Desmoulin and Dr. Armand Dorian for season 3. Desmoulin, a biomedical engineer and karate black belt, is in charge of creating and executing all of the various and often intricate tests that are performed and subsequently entered into the show’s computer system.  Dorian analyzes the lethal potential of each attack on the human body and discusses the type of medical treatments which were available at the time to treat such wounds.

“Deadliest Warrior” is produced by 44 Blue Productions, Inc. with Rasha Drachkovitch and Tim Warren serving as executive producers.

The new season will delve deeper into the history of the legendary warriors to create an even more comprehensive composite of these formidable combatants.  Season 3 will also expand its scientific exploration of the warriors’ weaponry, illustrating its innovation and technology.

“We are confident the innovations to Spike’s franchise hit, “Deadliest Warrior,” will be a big hit with show’s ever-growing fan base,” said Levy.  “The addition of more scientific explanation behind the weapons and the historical context of the warriors will enhance the viewers’ experience.”

“Deadliest Warrior: The Game” for Xbox LIVE Arcade has been a top-selling title on Xbox LIVE Marketplace, selling over 190,000 units within the first month of its July 14 release.

Also returning for a new season in conjunction with the new episodes will be Spike.com’s, original round table discussion series, “Deadliest Warrior – The Aftermath.”  For Season 2, it continued to be hugely successful, maintaining the online interest between episodes and generating a total of 2.7 million video views.  “Deadliest Warrior” also performed well on Xbox LIVE Marketplace, ranking as one of the highest selling TV series on the platform. In fact, since launching in April 2009, over 380,000 “Deadliest Warrior” episodes have been downloaded across various download-to-own platforms (iTunes, Xbox, PSN, etc).

“Deadliest Warrior” show pages on Spike.com attracted a season average of over 227,000 weekly unique visitors.  Show-related videos generated over 16.6 million video views during the course of the season.

Along with the use of 21^st century science and the latest in CGI technology, the series enlists warrior-specific, world-class fighters and experts to provide insight into what makes these combatants tick, analyzing every facet of their unique skills of destruction, culminating in a head-to-head final fight between two legends of the battlefield that will produce the deadliest warrior.  The recent second season featured such iconic warriors such as SWAT, Attila the Hun, Alexander the Great, Aztec Jaguar, Jesse James Gang, Al Capone Gang, Roman Centurion, India’s Rajput Warrior, Somali Pirate, KGB and CIA.

AVENGERS: EARTH’S MIGHTIEST HEROES Series

Marvel Comics announced a new four-issue miniseries called “Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes,” which is based on the upcoming Disney XD animated series by the same name.

The comic miniseries will be about the Avenger characters: Thor, Captain America, Iron Man and the Hulk, and is set to release later this year.

Marvel said in a new statement:

Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes #1 is perfect for all ages and a great jumping-on point for new fans. And don’t miss the all-new animated series Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, premiering this October on Disney XD.
